I am buying a property, when should I call you for an opinion or a quote? As soon as possible ! Ideally even before signing the promise to purchase. Here's why : It is common to fall in love with a property, often because of the parquet floors. It's always a huge disappointment to discover that they are not renovable or repairable, so you might as well find out before signing. We always come to the appointment with a device to test the humidity. If we detect a problem at this level, we will tell you and this will allow you to know before even signing, in order to perhaps better negotiate the purchase price and in any case to better understand your future property. Aware that owners are not always very inclined to make numerous visits once the compromise is signed, we recommend having us come beforehand. It's not always easy to find a time that suits the agency, the previous owner, you and us and pin it all together. You can use this link with our calendar to help you https://www.poncagedeparquet.be/reserver If necessary, call us, we will try to be super flexible.

When do I need one of your packages? Our "Protect +" package is specially adapted to completely new parquet floors which are delivered with a factory finish, but insufficiently protected (this is unfortunately often the case). There is no deep sanding provided in this package, so it is not suitable for parquet floors with discolorations, scratches, stains, dents or other signs of wear. This type of package is not suitable for parquet floors that have already been used. Our "Ultimate Protection" package is suitable for all types of parquet flooring showing signs of wear or any other type of marks.
-
I have significant stains/marks on my floor, do you think you can remove them? Our “Ultimate Protection” package consists of a real in-depth, so-called “white” sanding of your parquet floor. The vast majority of traces of wear, scratches, stains, etc. disappear during this type of sanding. However, in certain rare cases, traces do not disappear. In this case, if our client wishes, we offer to replace the part of the parquet floor that is causing the problem. We have in our workshops most of the wood species in stock and the machines necessary to manufacture identical parquet. We can usually replace the problem parts the same day.
-
How long are your offers valid? The validity of our offers is 30 calendar days
-
Is everything included in your offers? Our offers cover all of the planned work. There is nothing hidden. We want at all costs to avoid unpleasant surprises for our customers.
-
What finish do you recommend for my parquet floor? We offer different types of finishing. It is difficult to advise without seeing the results directly on your floor. To allow you to choose, as soon as we have sanded part of your parquet floor, we make samples on your parquet floor and show you the result. This allows you to choose exactly the finish you like.

What is vitrification and what is the end result? Some wrongly think that the term "vitrificateur" in french refers to a product that makes the parquet floor shiny, a bit like a "vitre ( glass) "... This is absolutely false. "Vitrificateur" is simply a name given to a varnish which is adapted to the constraints linked to the use of wooden floors. Some "vitrificateur" are completely matte and some are even invisible. Current virtificateur are very often two-component, water-based and maintenance-free. They have become odorless and ecological, they include a yellowing protection over time by incorporating UV filters, they are also scratch resistant and above all are available in all types of matte up to the most extreme. In addition, they allow an additional layer to be laid later without having to sand the parquet again. The final result varies depending on the customer's taste but it allows a wide variety of shades and sliding standards for use in sports halls for example. Some are non-slip for stairs. Ask us for advice based on the type of your floors and the use you plan to use. We would be delighted to help you in your choices.

When is it recommended to oil a parquet floor?Natural varnishes have evolved so much in recent years that it has become difficult to justify the use of oil, which requires more maintenance. Oils are recommended when the parquet is already oiled and you simply want to add an additional layer of oil.
-
J'ai vu que le prix des produits de finition n'est pas inclus dans le forfait, à quoi dois-je m'attendre ?All work, travel, and installation equipment related to finishing products are included in our packages. What is not included in our packages is only the finishing product itself. There are too many possibilities and variations to list them all in a price list. On average, the total consumption for 3 finishing coats is 0.3 liters /M2 Our range of products extends from 23 euros/liter to 47 euros/liter for the most resistant product. This corresponds to 6.9 euros / m2 for 3 coats of finish for the most affordable product.

Can I put oil on my fir floor?Putting oil on a softwood is risky and is not ideal. A softwood floor (pine, moorland pine, red fir, pitch pine, etc.) contains resin. Oil for finishing parquet floors is an impregnation technique which consists of blocking the pores of the wood in order to make it impervious to attack. When you apply an oil to a softwood, due to the pores which are already closed by the resin of the wood, you cannot penetrate deeply. The consequences are difficult or even impossible drying of the oil and insufficient protection. In recent years, new "oxidative" drying oils have arrived on the market. These oils allow drying even without penetrating the wood and can be used in certain cases on softwoods. This is not ideal, but if your choice for your floor is oiling, it is a possible solution. During our first meeting, we will happily explain to you in detail the advantages and disadvantages of the different finishing products.

In what cases can my parquet floor no longer be renovated?Unfortunately, there are situations where it is not possible to renovate: The thickness of the parquet has become too thin: - 2mm on the facing of a semi-massive, - 2mm before assembling a solid, - 5mm on a mosaic parquet. These are only examples, it is best to check with us on site. The parquet is peeling off in many places. On certain parquet floors such as "mosaics", the boards do not involve assembly and the lifespan is linked more to the glue than to the thickness of the parquet. Parquet glue must remain flexible to follow the movements of the wood. Some glues used in the 50s/60s are currently reaching the end of their life. If your parquet floor creaks when you walk, this may mean that it is no longer possible to renovate it. Make an appointment online to get our opinion, it's free. The parquet floor requires too many repairs, either elements are missing in large quantities, or many boards are deeply stained. The quality of the parquet does not allow renovation. The thickness of certain low-quality semi-massive parquet floors does not allow real renovation. Do not hesitate to ask us for our opinion on the minimum quality of your future parquet. Even if you don't order it from us, we will be happy to give it to you
-
I don't know what type of parquet floor I have, what should I do?Send us a photo by email or Whatsapp and fill out a quote request, it's free, it takes a minute and we will give you an initial opinion on your parquet floor.
-
Are there new parquet floors that are impossible to sand?Yes, some parquet floors which have too weak a facing can be difficult to renovate. Before fully gluing a parquet floor to a screed, it is important to know its lifespan in order to avoid sometimes dramatic situations. We frequently refuse parquet renovations. Often because it is impossible to have a beautiful result and it would be more appropriate to place the investment planned for sanding in a new parquet floor. Do not hesitate to call us if in doubt, advice is free.
-
Les travaux de ponçage font-il de la poussière ?At Wood Life, each of our machines without exception is connected to a high-performance external vacuum system. The result ? Very low dust generation. Our customers are generally very surprised by the little dust visible during and after the work.
-
Do the rooms need to be emptied before work?Yes, the rooms must be emptied to carry out the parquet work. Otherwise we must carry out the work in several phases with a risk of additional charges.
-
Should a bookcase that never moves be removed? If there is no need to sand underneath and the furniture never moves, the furniture should not be removed. Be careful not to make a mistake, however. It is best to do parquet work when the rooms are completely empty.
-
I have a grand piano, impossible to remove, what should I do?In specific cases we can move objects during the work. It depends on many factors, possibility of putting it on casters etc., the best is to ask the question during the visit before work.
-
Can I let my pets, such as dogs or cats, roam freely during the renovations?Yes, absolutely! We love pets ! During the sanding process, pets won't like the noise from the machines, which they may find unsettling. However, extra caution should be taken during the finish and drying to prevent floating hair and little paws from coming into contact with the varnish. Fortunately, water-based products dry within 3 hours.
-
I am unable to move a piece of furniture without help, can you help me?Of course ! Within the limits of our possibilities, we are not movers, but we will be happy to help you.
-
How long does the work take?Allow on average 5 working days, drying included for an area less than 100m2. This is just an example, it varies greatly depending on any additional work or types of finishing products. The best is to ask at the time of the visit before work.
-
Avez-vous besoin de chauffage pendant les travaux ?The ideal temperature is 16°C for working. The heat released by the machines is most of the time sufficient to heat the room, even in the middle of winter. On the other hand, at night if it freezes you will need to heat your parquet floor and dry the products. It is for this reason that it is not recommended to install parquet flooring in winter in an unheated house.
-
Do I have to be present during the work?As you want. The noise of sanders is never pleasant. Most of our customers are not very present and give us some access. But when choosing finishing products, it is always better to see the tests "in real life" on your parquet floor rather than in photos.
-
Do you need light during work?Yes of course, but if the house does not yet have lighting, we have our own lighting system if necessary.
-
Can you replace parquet elements?Yes ! We have most species in stock in the workshop and we can, if necessary, manufacture an element of your parquet identically, without having to subcontract this work and without this causing delays in the work.
-
How long after the end of the work can I walk and cover the parquet floorGenerally opening to walking is possible a few hours later. Covering 24 hours later if the finish is vitrification. Allow two days instead if it is an oiled finish.
-
Can I do other work at the same time as parquet? All craftsmen who work inside homes use the floors to move around, regardless of the nature of their work. This is why our profession is specific and we therefore refuse the presence of other trades on the surfaces where we work throughout the duration of our work. Dust created by the work of another craftsman in an adjacent room can also interfere with the installation of parquet finishing products.
-
When should I choose my parquet flooring when I am building a house? We are among the last to intervene in a new project and yet the client should ideally have chosen their parquet floor very early, even before the structural work begins. The reason is simple: The necessary thickness of a solid parquet floor depends on the width and type of parquet, a very wide plank for example will require a greater thickness of parquet for reasons of stability. You may also need a stabilizing underlayment underneath to further increase stability. As it is necessary to know the height of the finished floors before pouring the screeds, because these must be placed at the right level, it is therefore necessary to choose the parquet before pouring the screeds. Same thing for the levels of frames, tiles, entrance door thresholds and even sanitary facilities, railings, balustrades etc.
-
Do you also install parquet flooring?

Who should protect the parquet floors after work and how? This is a very good question that we are often asked. There is a very precise rule in construction; The craftsman who carries out work must himself protect the premises so as not to damage or destroy the work of another craftsman. Only the person who is going to carry out work knows the precise risks of the work they are going to carry out and therefore the type of protection necessary for this work. If the floors are already protected when a craftsman arrives, the project manager will not be able to show him that they are in good condition. If damage appears when the protection is removed, responsibility for the damage caused cannot be clearly established. It is therefore important to make a small inventory, even oral, and to have the boss of the company who comes to do the work after us confirm the good condition of the parquet floors, asking him if he sees a trace or defect. somewhere to report it before installing the protections. When this craftsman leaves, you will ask him to remove the protections he himself installed and will check together that everything is still in perfect condition. What you should never do when protecting parquet: 1° Have the floors protected by the parquet floorer for work that another craftsman will do later (see reasons above). 2° Protect the floors while they are not dry. Some finishes take several days to dry completely, although opening to walking is very quick. 3° Tape protection with very sticky tape on a parquet floor with a very fresh finish. 4° Forget to ask the parquet floorer what type of protection is accepted, when it can be installed and how long it can stay in place.
-
Are your opinions true and verified?Yes. All opinions on our site or on our Facebook page are true. These are clients with whom we have actually worked.
-
What are your turnaround times for an intervention?Delays can vary greatly, so it's best to give us a call and provide the number of square meters, or request an online quote by sending a photo of your flooring. Some urgent jobs are easier to fit in between other projects than others. We can also be put on standby at any time if, for example, a contractor who needs to finish their work before us is delayed. Call +32479239396 or send a text message to this number to check our availability.
-
If we are in a hurry, is there a possibility of faster intervention?Yes, even if we are full, we can put you on our waiting list. When a client postpones their work because their contractor is late, or for various other reasons, we then have the possibility of offering you an earlier date.
-
Are you respecting the set work dates?Parquet flooring is often the last job before moving. This is why we consider that work dates are sacred and must absolutely be respected. If we have committed to a start and end date for the work, rest assured, we will respect it.
